TVTM #7 :: What Blogging Platforms Are The Most Effective And Why?

As many of you know we launched a Blog last month for members of The VA Passport, to keep them posted with all the latest important info from the members area, but in addition to this, I would like to build this up as a special space for members and non-members to interact on the posts through comments, so each week I start a discussion. Members can either respond in the forum or on the blog post itself.

I chose Tumblr as a platform after reading Crush It, by Gary Vaynerchuk, you can learn more about Tumblr on this great blog post I found this week on Mashable. I also use Wordpress, but of course there are loads of platforms out there to choose from.

So this weeks discussion is about What Blogging Platforms Are The Most Effective And Why?

TVTM #6 :: The One Thing You’ll Wish Someone Had Told You Before You Start A Business

I have had a super week this week, I released my new look Flight Deck show on the Blog, Vimeo and iTunes. I also published a new TREK in The VA Passport on Monetising Domains, and I have a few other things for you I am working on – so exciting.

In amongst this, it got me thinking about how much time I spend on my business, don’t get me wrong, I love it, and I have got to the point where I can step away, spend time with family etc… but even during the times when I am not working at my business, it’s still very much at the forefront of my mind, so much so, that I published a blog post about it.

So this weeks discussion is about What everyone should know before they start a virtual business. (or any business for that matter!) What tips or advice do you have to share about this?

TVTM #4 :: Project Management Spaces As Client Areas – What To Use?

This week in the Club Lounge we’re talking "Project Management Spaces As Client Areas – What To Use?".

I posted a blog post last week on Project Management Spaces, and while I use activeCollab – and love it, I was wondering what you use and how your clients find working in it? Has it been easy to help them work with you in the online project management space or has it been a struggle to encourage them to use it?

What do you love about your client areas and what do you think could be improved.

Look forward to seeing your responses!

TVTM #3 :: Work Life Balance – How To Obtain It?

Welcome to another weekly question/discussion from TVAP!

This week we’re talking “Work Life Balance – How To Obtain It?”

I think one of life’s mysteries is how we actually obtain work life balance. Especially when we have families, work from home, and are starting up a business… There are simply not enough hours in the day.

What worked for me is Life Appointments – where I treat my personal life just as I do my work life, with the same commitment to my life as I have to my work – without feeling guilty.

So this weeks discussion: Work Life Balance – How To Obtain It?

Have you managed to get the balance?

Do you think it’s possible or not?

Are you striving to get the WLB?

TVTM #2 :: “Starting An Online Business – What Drives You?”

This week we’re talking "Starting An Online Business – What Drives You?"

Welcome to another weekly question! Something I am always curious about.

Why have you started an online business, or thinking of starting one. What Drives You?

For me it was so I could travel and work from anywhere, I need a highly flexible way of earning money, and an equally flexible ability to do it from anywhere, hence I became a Virtual Assistant.

But later on, I realised how lucky I was, having my kids, and being able to work from home with them. It was just awesome for me, when so many of my friends back home were bound by maternity leave and having to go back to work after 3 months and leave their child with family or daycare. :-(

So what drives you? A passion for Freedom? Travel? or is it more of a domestic flexibility you needed? Or do you simply not want a classic commute/9-5/day job?

TVTM #1 :: The BEST Virtual Assistant Resources Online – Where Are They?

Every week I’m going to pick a trend I see online or take something that has happened in my biz and start a discussion on it in the forums. We’ll be announcing the new topic in this syndicate blog and on our weekly blog updates via email, so it should be really accessible to you.

The first discussion of the year is up! Your opinions and insight is so important, because everyone’s experiences of working online are different. We move in different circles, have different clients or markets, meet different people, use different products or services, so by sharing and collaborating, the group itself and the individuals in it will become more abundant and in-the-know. Feel free to contribute to any of these member discussions, at any time, now or in the future.

This week we’re talking about resources for VA’s and where the best resources for business development and learning are. This could be a product you’ve used, a newsletter you signed up for, perhaps an eBook or an individual/mentor or online group.

So, please share! The BEST Virtual Assistant Resources Online – Where Are They?

I would like to mention TVAA (www.TheVAApprentice.com) okay, it’s my biz programme, but if I had had it when I started, it would have improved my business several fold as a start up.

I have absolutely no issues with what or who you mention, as long as it genuinely helped you or someone you know.

Thanks!
